Bringing Music to the Community for over a Century

Social Activities

We are a very friendly choir and hold many social activities throughout the year.

The Pub Lunch

We hosted another highly successful and enjoyable Come & Sing day last February, performing Berlioz: Grande Messe Des Morts. It was made the more challenging by the rousing brass accompaniment! Our February 2007 event appears to be just as popular – again with brass accompaniment – tickets having sold out well before the event. Details for 2008 will be coming soon!

Concert outings are organised. In recent years, friends and families travelled to Cardiff to support the choir in various performances with the BBC National Chorus and Orchestra of Wales under the baton of Richard Hickox. These have included Janacek's Glagolitic Mass and Brahm's Requiem, both of which were broadcast on Radio 3. Other occasional trips have included Birmingham and St David's.

Barn dance and quiz. We cater for all tastes, abilities and inclinations!

Walks are organised by members every month, including New Year's Day! They cover a variety of terrains and distances anything from 6-12 miles, Black Mountains to Cotswold valleys. The pub lunch has become a highlight of our walks.

American suppers are held at AGMs, barn dances and quizes.

These activities are in addition to trips abroad. In May 2001 the Choir performed in two locations in Barcelona. The Choir visited and performed in Hungary in April 2003 (Click here to view a report of the trip) , Krakow 2005. We have also made trips to London, participating in various concerts including the Proms in the Park event.
